Biography
Megan Cawlfield has been a Pediatric SLP since 2009. She has worked in a variety of settings including private outpatient clinics, schools, daycares, and homes. In 2020, she stepped into a world of self-advocacy and self-education and began to help families navigate resources within communities and schools. Seeing a need to support parents who advocate alone, she formed Virtual Milestone Academy and in seeing the need for more knowledge about dyslexia, she went back to school and found possibilities for greater collaboration. She is a lifelong learner who is certified in Structured Literacy Dyslexia Intervention, as well as a member of ASHA, and a member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates and holds a certificate in Dyslexia Advocacy at the Dyslexia Training Institute.

My Story
When I reexamined my career as a Pediatric SLP in 2020, I stepped into a world of self-advocacy and education. I was taught in graduate school that dyslexia was not a real diagnosis! Because of this misinformation, I spent my career systematically teaching whole language as an SLP!
Reflecting on my experience and seeking truths from higher education has led me towards a lifelong advocacy for educational truths. Seeking foundational understanding and advocacy for clear tools and solutions- for all- is my life time goal. I am proud of the humble journey I have taken to understand these truths and I look forward to the conversations that lead to stronger, more resilient, beginnings!
