IPE Guidance

Interprofessional Education (IPE) approaches are ABSOLUTELY needed! Too often specialists are isolated, and children are prescribed treatment plans that are not coordinated among various fields. This results in less than optimum or even conflicting treatments.!

Coordination of IPE is ABSOLUTELY needed!

Interprofessional Practice (IPP) is a framework that makes collaboration more successful.

We are here to guide you; let’s GET STARTED!

  • The purpose of VMA’s IPE/IPP support is to provide an education resource and platform to assist professionals and families in acquiring IPE/ IPP knowledge and to provide guidance to parents and practices.

  • IPE/IPP is not a replacement for rigorous education specific to each health care profession.

IPE/IPP represents one solution—not all solutions—to the challenges of the health and educational systems.

Experiential and team-based learning are the hallmarks of IPE/IPP.

VMA helps teams navigate utilizing and organizing resources to creatively meet a families’ needs.

  • There are many ways to provide interprofessional education (IPE) as well as differences in measuring outcomes. VMA helps teams overcome barriers during implementition.

  • Initiating IPEs takes advocacy on behalf of an adult who sees this need. VMA supports parents and professionals during each step of this process. See our services to learn more.

  • Case management is an area of specialty practice within the health and human services profession that utilizes IPE and IPPs. With case management, everyone benefits when children reach their goals!

Case management facilitates the achievement of client’s wellness and autonomy through advocacy, assessment, planning, communication, education, resource management, and service facilitation.

VMA’s CCM is based on the needs and values of the family, and in collaboration with all service providers, the case manager links clients with appropriate providers and resources throughout the continuum of health and human services and care settings, while ensuring that the care provided is safe, effective, client-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable.

CCM achieves optimum value and desirable outcomes for all!

IPE Values:

Communication and Mutual Respect

between families, professionals, and community-based resources.
